Ola Electric Launches ‘Ola Shakti’: A Revolutionary Battery Energy Storage Solution

Ola Electric, India’s leading electric mobility company, has officially launched ‘Ola Shakti’, its advanced Battery Energy Storage Solution (BESS), marking a major milestone in its journey from electric vehicle manufacturing to becoming a clean energy technology leader. With this move, Ola Electric has made its entry into the energy storage sector, setting the stage for large-scale renewable energy integration and sustainable power solutions across India.

Built on 4680 Bharat Cell technology, Ola Shakti is designed and developed entirely in India, aligning with the government’s ‘Make in India’ and ‘Energy Independence’ initiatives. The batteries are being manufactured at the Ola Gigafactory, one of the largest and most advanced battery manufacturing facilities in the country.

Ola Shakti: The Next Generation of Energy Storage

The Ola Shakti battery system is a flexible, scalable, and high-performance energy storage solution aimed at powering a wide range of applications — from residential and commercial setups to industrial and grid-scale deployments. The system leverages Ola’s proprietary 4680 Bharat Cell, a high-energy-density cell designed for long lifecycle, superior efficiency, and enhanced thermal management.

The company stated that the Ola Shakti BESS will enable efficient renewable energy storage, helping stabilize grids, manage peak power demands, and promote the adoption of solar and wind energy. Ola’s innovative cell chemistry and advanced thermal design make Shakti one of the most efficient battery storage systems in the global market.

Scaling for the Future: 5 GWh Energy Storage Goal

Ola Electric’s ambitious roadmap aims to scale its energy storage system consumption to 5 GWh annually in the coming years. This expansion signifies Ola’s intention to diversify beyond its core electric two-wheeler business and become a major player in the clean energy ecosystem.

The Ola Gigafactory, located in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu, is central to this vision. The facility has a massive production capacity and will eventually be capable of manufacturing 100 GWh of cells annually. With this infrastructure, Ola plans to meet the growing demand for both mobility and stationary energy storage applications.

Driving India Toward an Energy-Independent Future

The launch of Ola Shakti reflects Ola Electric’s broader mission of decarbonizing energy and transportation in India. The company envisions a future where electric mobility, renewable power generation, and intelligent energy storage systems work together to create a sustainable, self-reliant energy ecosystem.

According to Bhavish Aggarwal, Founder and CEO of Ola Electric, “With Ola Shakti, we’re building the foundation for India’s energy future. The transition to clean energy is not just about EVs — it’s about enabling renewable power to be stored and distributed efficiently.”
