Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025: Ministry of Education Extends Registration Deadline to October 11

The Ministry of Education (MoE) has announced an extension of the registration window for the Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025, India’s largest student innovation movement. Originally set to close on October 6, the registration deadline has now been extended till October 11, giving more students an opportunity to participate. Interested students can apply through the official website.

Launched in collaboration with the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) and NITI Aayog, the Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025 aims to spark creativity, innovation, and problem-solving skills among students from Grades 6 to 12. The initiative is designed to engage students from nearly 2.5 lakh schools across India, making it one of the world’s largest live innovation movements.

A National Platform for Young Innovators

The Buildathon encourages students to think creatively, work collaboratively, and develop prototype solutions that tackle real-world challenges faced by communities. Students are required to form teams within their schools and submit their project entries. These submissions will be evaluated by a panel of innovation and education experts.

The top-performing teams will be rewarded from a prize pool worth ₹1 crore, and beyond the monetary recognition, selected students and schools will receive mentorship, corporate partnerships, and long-term incubation support to help refine their ideas and bring them to life.

According to the Ministry, this initiative aligns closely with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasizes hands-on learning, innovation, and skill-based education. The Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025 also prioritizes inclusive participation, ensuring active engagement from Aspirational Districts, tribal communities, and students from remote and rural regions.

Students participating in the Buildathon will focus on four key themes that resonate with India’s development vision:

  • Vocal for Local: Promoting indigenous crafts, local products, and resources to strengthen local economies.

  • Swadeshi: Fostering home-grown innovation and indigenous technology.
  • Digital and Green India (implicit sub-theme): Encouraging technology-driven, sustainable solutions for a modern India.

These themes are not only rooted in India’s cultural and economic identity but also align with the government’s long-term goal of achieving a Viksit Bharat (Developed India) by 2047.

Empowering the Innovators of Tomorrow

A statement from the official press release describes Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025 as a “clarion call to students to dream big, innovate fearlessly, and contribute to India’s journey toward becoming a developed nation by 2047.” The Ministry has urged every school and every student to take part and showcase their creativity as part of this national movement.

The initiative provides an experiential learning platform that nurtures innovation from the grassroots level and prepares India’s youth for the future of work and technology.
