The Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS) has officially released the Telangana NEET UG 2025 revised merit list today. This comes after the Supreme Court upheld the four-year domicile rule, significantly reducing the number of candidates eligible for MBBS and BDS admissions in Telangana. Earlier, 43,400 students were considered for counselling; however, with the new rule in effect, only 16,762 candidates are now eligible to participate in the Telangana NEET UG 2025 counselling.
Supreme Court Verdict and Revised Eligibility
The Supreme Court’s decision to uphold the new domicile rule introduced in 2024 has led to major changes in the Telangana NEET UG 2025 admission process. As per the rule, candidates must have studied or resided in Telangana for at least four consecutive years up to Class 12 to be considered for MBBS and BDS admissions. Consequently, 689 students lost their eligibility for local status, and 1,020 candidates were marked ineligible overall in the revised list. Students have been directed to upload relevant academic documents to claim their local domicile status on the official portal.
