IIT BHU Launches Startup Incubation Programme with Funding Support Up to ₹20 Lakh

The Indian Institute of Technology at Banaras Hindu University (IIT BHU) has announced the launch of a Startup Incubation Programme aimed at empowering early-stage entrepreneurs. The initiative offers a comprehensive suite of resources including office space, technical and legal support, market access, mentorship, and funding assistance of up to ₹20 lakh.

The programme has been launched under the umbrella of the I-DAPT Hub Foundation at IIT BHU and is closely aligned with national missions such as Make in India, Viksit Bharat, and Atmanirbhar Bharat. According to Rajesh Kumar, Dean of Research and Development at IIT BHU, the vision is to create a “vibrant startup ecosystem” that nurtures technopreneurs and accelerates innovation-driven growth in the country.

Focus on Data Analytics and Predictive Technologies

The incubation programme specifically encourages tech startups operating in the Data Analytics and Predictive Technologies (DAPT) domain. Startups with commercially viable products and services that leverage DAPT as their core technology are invited to apply for both funding and incubation support.

Applications can be submitted through the official website of the I-DAPT Hub Foundation —— before the deadline of August 20, 2025.

Eligibility Criteria

The programme has outlined clear eligibility requirements to ensure that selected startups have the potential to scale and succeed:

  • The business must be incorporated in India and have a Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) registration number.
  • At least one founder must be working full-time in the venture.
  • At least one founder must hold 51% equity in the company.
  • The startup can be sector-agnostic, but DAPT must remain at the core of its offerings.

According to Ram Sharan Singh, Project Director of I-DAPT Hub, the initiative is open to both product- and service-based startups, provided they operate within the DAPT framework and have a clear commercialization strategy.
