The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has officially deferred the Combined Graduate Level Examination (CGLE), 2025, originally scheduled for August 13, 2025. In an announcement, the commission stated that the postponement is to allow for a thorough evaluation of the computer-based exam platform and ensure operational readiness. The revised schedule for the CGLE 2025 will be announced soon on the official SSC website, with the exam now expected to commence from the first week of September 2025.
This decision comes amid ongoing reforms in SSC’s computer-based examinations (CBE), implemented as part of the Supreme Court’s directives aimed at improving the integrity and smooth conduct of competitive exams. These reforms were first introduced during the Selection Posts/Phase XIII Exams 2025, conducted across 194 centers nationwide from July 24 to August 1, 2025.
One key reform has been the mandatory Aadhaar authentication for both candidates and exam functionaries. This move is designed to curb impersonation and other malpractice during examinations, bolstering the security and credibility of the recruitment process. Despite these efforts, the commission acknowledged that there were disruptions for some candidates during the recent exams due to technical glitches and operational challenges.
The SSC elaborated, “During the conduct of the above examination, there were disruptions to certain candidates in taking the exam, owing to technical factors and operational reasons. Many such candidates were identified and in order to provide a fair opportunity, they were rescheduled and accommodated in subsequent shifts till 1st August 2025.”
To further address these issues, on August 2, 2025, exams were conducted in three shifts specifically for candidates who had faced difficulties earlier. Approximately 8,000 candidates appeared for these special sessions. Following a detailed analysis of the logs from all exam shifts up to August 2, the commission identified around 55,000 candidates for whom there were gaps in exam data. Recognizing the need for fairness, the SSC has decided to give these candidates another chance to appear for the exam on Friday, 29th August 2025.
In addition to the exam deferral, the commission also announced the reopening of the One Time Registration (OTR) facility on its official portal starting from August 14, 2025. The OTR is a platform where candidates can register once and use the credentials to apply for various SSC exams.
The notice stated, “During the period of application submission for various examinations for 2025 cycle, the One Time Registration (OTR) facility at the SSC portal was disabled for editing. Edit facility for OTR will be permitted once again from 14th August 2025 till 31st August 2025 for future application purposes.”
Candidates are advised to update any necessary details during this editing window, as no changes will be permitted after August 31, 2025. Applications for upcoming SSC examinations are expected to begin from September 2025.
The SSC’s move to postpone CGLE 2025 and provide additional opportunities for candidates affected by technical issues underlines its commitment to conducting fair, transparent, and efficient recruitment examinations.
