The National Education Society for Tribal Students (NESTS), in collaboration with UNICEF India, has launched TALASH, a digital initiative designed to uplift and empower tribal students studying in Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRSs) across the country. This innovative program is set to impact over 1.38 lakh tribal students across 28 states and 8 union territories, marking a significant move towards inclusive, student-centric, and holistic education for marginalized communities.
TALASH (Transcending Aspirations for Learning And Schooling Holistically) is a multi-faceted program that includes aptitude-based assessments, personalized career counselling, life skills development, and teacher training modules. The initiative aims to nurture the academic, emotional, and vocational needs of students from tribal backgrounds by equipping them with 21st-century skills and informed choices for their future.
The program aligns with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasizes equitable access to quality education and skill development across all communities. By addressing the unique challenges faced by tribal students, TALASH ensures they are not left behind in India’s education reform journey.
