The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Goa has officially invited applications for admission to its Ph.D. programs (Full-Time and Part-Time) for the academic session 2025–26 (July cycle). Aspiring researchers can apply to pursue doctoral studies in a range of disciplines across engineering and sciences.
DEPARTMENTS OFFERING PH.D. PROGRAMS
NIT Goa is accepting applications in the following departments:
- Civil Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Computer Science and Engineering
- Electrical and Electronics Engineering
- Electronics and Communication Engineering
- Humanities and Sciences (including Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Economics, and related disciplines)
CATEGORIES OF ADMISSION
Full-Time (Regular): This category includes candidates supported by Institute fellowships, project-based funding, or sponsorships from government agencies such as DST, MeitY, or UGC.
Part-Time (External/Working Professionals): This mode is open to professionals employed in recognized research organizations, industries, or academic institutions. Applicants must submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their employer and should be located within a commutable distance from NIT Goa.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Engineering Disciplines

- Master’s degree (M.Tech./M.E.) in a relevant field with a minimum of 6.5 CGPA or 60% marks.
- OR Bachelor’s degree (B.Tech./B.E.) with 7.5 CGPA or 70% marks along with a valid GATE score.
Humanities and Sciences
-
- Master’s degree (M.Sc./M.A.) in relevant subjects with a minimum of 6.5 CGPA or 60% marks.
Part-Time Candidates
-
- Must be currently employed in relevant organizations and possess a valid NOC.
SELECTION PROCESS
The selection will be based on a combination of academic performance, eligibility criteria, and performance in a written test and/or interview.
APPLICATION FEE
- ₹500 for General/OBC/EWS candidates
- ₹250 for SC/ST/PwD candidates
IMPORTANT DATES
- Last Date for Online Submission: 22nd June 2025
- Written Test/Interview: 24th to 28th June 2025 (Tentative)
- Result Declaration: 5th July 2025
