The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has released detailed guidelines for ICSE (Class 10) and ISC (Class 12) students regarding Recheck, Re-evaluation, Improvement Examinations, and Supplementary Examinations for the Year 2025.
Candidates who wish to get their results rechecked must submit their applications by 4th May 2025. This provision allows candidates to request a re-evaluation of their original results. Furthermore, if a candidate is dissatisfied with the result after rechecking, they can apply for a Re-evaluation of their theory answer scripts in the relevant subjects.
Students who have not qualified in the 2025 Examination have the opportunity to take the Improvement Examination in the same year. However, such candidates may only attempt one or two subjects. If they fail to qualify even after the Improvement Examination, they must reappear for all subjects in the ICSE / ISC 2026 Main Examination.
Additionally, candidates who have qualified but wish to enhance their scores in one or two subjects may also take the Improvement Examination in 2025. They are also permitted to improve further by appearing for the Supplementary Examination in the 2026 session.
Importantly, only those candidates who appeared in the 2025 Main Examination are eligible for the Improvement Examination. Candidates marked as ABSENT in the Main Examination are not eligible. Students may choose to appear for a maximum of two subjects, including multiple papers if applicable. For subjects like English, which includes Paper I (Language) and Paper II (Literature), students can opt for either one or both papers. Similarly, science candidates may choose any or all three papers.
The Improvement Examination fee has been fixed at Rs. 500 per subject/paper. For subjects with multiple papers, like English (two papers), the fee is Rs. 1,000, and for science (three papers), the fee is Rs. 1,500, if all papers are selected.
All queries regarding examination results must be routed only through the Head of the School to the Chief Executive and Secretary of CISCE and must reach within the stipulated deadline.
These guidelines aim to provide multiple opportunities for students to improve their performance and ensure transparency and fairness in the examination process.
