PM-YUVA 3.0, an initiative launched on 11th March 2025, marks the continuation of the highly successful PM-YUVA Scheme, which has seen large-scale participation from young and budding authors across 22 Indian languages and English. This third edition of the scheme is set to further empower young writers, providing them with mentorship and an opportunity to shape the literary landscape of India.
Timeline of PM-YUVA 3.0: The contest will run from 11th March to 10th April 2025, during which participants will submit their book proposals. After the evaluation of the proposals from 12th April to 12th May 2025, the national jury will meet on 20th May 2025. The results will be announced on 31st May 2025. The mentorship program will commence from 1st June and continue until 1st November 2025. The National Camp will be held at the New Delhi World Book Fair in January 2026, and the first set of books will be published by 31st March 2026.

The scheme aims to foster a new generation of writers who can write about India’s past, present, and future. It will provide an opportunity for young authors to explore and articulate the contributions of Indians in various fields, thus promoting India’s diverse cultural and intellectual heritage.
Eligibility and Selection: To be eligible, applicants must be under the age of 30 as of 11 March 2025. A total of 50 authors will be selected, with specific quotas for each theme:
- Contribution of Indian Diaspora in Nation Building – 10 authors
- Indian Knowledge System – 20 authors
- Makers of Modern India (1950-2025) – 20 authors
Selection will be carried out by a committee formed by the National Book Trust (NBT), India. Previous participants from PM-YUVA 1.0 and 2.0 are not eligible to apply.
Mentorship Schedule: The selected authors will undergo a six-month mentorship program starting on 1st June 2025. They will receive guidance through an online Writers’ Program, including Masterclasses by eminent authors from NBT’s panel. These mentors will help authors hone their literary skills and guide them in crafting their book proposals.
Scholarships and Benefits: Each selected author will receive a consolidated scholarship of Rs. 50,000 per month for six months (total Rs. 3 lakh). Additionally, authors will be entitled to a 10% royalty on the successful publication of their books. These books may also be translated into other Indian languages, promoting inter-state cultural exchange as part of the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshth Bharat’ initiative.
