Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in a meeting with Jnanpith Awardee Chandrashekar Kambar said the State Government to form a committee next year to undertake the full revision of school textbooks
As per the sources this year the controversial chapters in Kannada and Social Science textbooks would be dropped and replaced by old chapters which were recommended by the earlier Baraguru Ramachandrappa textbook revision committee,
It is being said the State Government is likely to issue a Government order in this regard shortly and then distribute booklets to all the schools including clarifications regarding the dropping of the controversial chapters. The schools will be directed by the State Government to not teach the dropped chapters and not consider them for examination purposes
Textbook revision is one of the pre poll promises of Congress, the textbook revisions has been in the news since the erstwhile BJP Government appointed Chakrathirtha as the chairman of the textbook revision committee and revision of textbooks was taken up
